We are excited to be searching for a talented, passionate and motivated 1st Year Apprentice Chef to join our professional kitchen team.

Wrest Point is an Employer of Choice with a reputation for excellence. As part of a team of approximately 70, you will cook with Tasmania’s finest produce and freshest local ingredients while you learn from some of Tasmania’s most skilled chefs. Working across a range of different restaurants, we can provide you with variety, support and skill development to enable you to succeed as an apprentice. This is the perfect opportunity for you to commence or continue your culinary career as part of a dedicated and talented team in a large scale, commercial kitchen environment. Combining off-the-job training with on-the-job learning you will work alongside Wrest Point’s qualified professionals, assisting in all aspects of commercial cookery and food production.

This apprenticeship enables you to develop your skills in a number of Wrest Point’s premium and casual restaurants including the:

• The Point Restaurant - showcasing Tasmania’s exquisite produce
• Longhorn Smokehouse Restaurant - fabulous smokehouse restaurant overlooking the River Derwent
• Boardwalk Bistro – family dining at great value
• Conferences and Events – from day meetings to large dinners.
• As well as our Production Kitchen and Pastry Kitchen

We are looking for:

• Candidates with a passion for food
• A desire to provide exceptional customer experiences every day and a
• Dedication and commitment
• Respect for others, reliability and excellent time management
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy team environment and to show initiative
• Ability and willingness to work across a 24/7 roster.
